Join in the celebration for National Charter Schools Week 2019, May 12-18!
This special celebration is a time for everyone in the movement—leaders, teachers, students, parents, and advocates—to come together to showcase our schools and students. The theme for this year is Charter School Are… because each charter school is unique in how they serve students and families, and we all have our own definition of what charter schools mean to us.
It's important to start your planning now! Here are a few ways to ramp up for the event:

Get Your Community Involved
Use one of our templates to make sure your community knows about the event:
Proclamation – Give your Governor language to issue an official document to commemorate the week and recognize your state’s high-quality public charter schools.
Press Release – This local template is just what you need to alert the media of the great work charter schools are doing and encouraging them to write about it! Get reporters involved by making it your own.
Media Advisory – This local template will help you alert the media to basic information about the week or a specific event.
Op-Ed – Our tips for writing the perfect prose piece to express your opinion in support of high-quality public charter schools and a guide on how to submit for publishing.
Invite Elected Officials to Your School
We also encourage you to invite your elected officials—local, state, and federal—to visit your school during the week or host a local rally to support charter schools. Here is our “how-to” toolkit on hosting a successful school visit to get you started.
