Letter to the Editor: Debunking False Notions from a Biased Report

As a follow up to Valerie Strauss’s piece in the Washington Post, “Report: U.S. government wasted up to $1 billion on charter schools and still fails to adequately monitor grants,” Amy Wilkins, senior vice president of advocacy at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, published a response letter to the editor titled, “Giving an F to a biased report on charter schools.” Wilkins debunks the notion that the reports $1 billion figure is a product of data and analysis. What gets lost in the politics is the real issue, results for students, who’s opportunities will be squandered if similar reports continue to falsify the charter school narrative.
