Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through language immersion in their choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian (depending on the school). To provide quality instruction in a broad range of science skills that are grade appropriate and that are crucial stepping stones to higher social studies learning and critical thinking.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate sound professional teaching and classroom management skills to facilitate learning.
Use oral and written language skills accurately and effectively.
Maintain accurate records of student academic and behavioral progress, attendance, test scores and personal information.
Carry out daily formal and informal assessments of student achievement.
Integrate the assessments to design appropriate lesson planning and effective teaching strategies to accommodate diverse student needs and learning styles.
Maintain strict confidentiality of student, family and colleague information to be a role model of respectful behavior at all times.
Plan long term as well as short term objectives of instruction.
Plan and present lessons to promote and supplement skills, concepts and strategies introduced in the classroom.
Perform integrated and trans-curriculum lesson planning in collaboration with student's classroom teachers.
Promote and achieve student involvement and initiative in making choices which affect learning and behavior.
Maintain an appropriate and safe learning environment.
Create a classroom climate that facilitates learning.
Provide students with adequate feedback about their work.
Teach problem solving skills that lead to peaceful conflict resolution.
Encourage students to strive for high achievement.
Manage behavior problems on an individual basis.
Help students develop positive self-concepts.
Maintain excellent communications with parents throughout the school year.
BA or BS from an accredited College or University.
Alternatively, candidate may hold a license endorsed in another area but must have college major in Social Studies
Or, candidate must have passed the PLACE or PRAXIS II test in Social Studies.
