SUMMARY: The Social Media Specialist assists with the development of and maintains
content for school and district social media channels. The role involves supporting the school
community throughout the consumer lifecycle across various social media platforms. The
Social Media Specialist helps to keep a pulse on the web for conversations related to, or
opportune for the school. The position also assists with developing social media promotions,
maintaining social media reports, and social media related performance.
The Social Media Specialist supports the school’s marketing and culture efforts through
various social media channels. To be successful in this role, hands-on experience with social
media platforms, analytics tools, the ability to work collaboratively with others, and the ability to
turn creative ideas into effective social media engagement is essential.
The Social Media Specialist will assist the Communications and Public Relations Department
in building and maintaining a strong, consistent brand through a wide range of online and
offline social media channels.

• Manage the school’s social media accounts across various social platforms
• Participate in the creation and execution of strategies to build and maintain a positive
reputation online to find and participate in conversations related to the school
• Encourage and maintain community engagement with school-owned social media
• Compile reports and perform analysis regarding activity and campaign performance and
results across the school’s various social media platforms
• Maintain awareness of social media tools/trends and applications
• Handle customer service issues, resolutions, and proactively communicate issues,
opportunities and insights to the team
• Assists with the planning of social media posts, content, and ads (time of day, day of
week, etc.) based on testing and optimization

• Collaboratively participates in the development of content to build stakeholder
engagement across multiple platforms
• Assists in the development and execution of new social media promotions
• Moderates user generated content to insure appropriateness and student safety
• Authors posts and captures other content, such as images and video from internal and
external stakeholders
• Associates degree in Communications or a related field AND
• Minimum of four (2) years of experience working in social media in a school or
corporate environment OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to forge strong relationships to participate in cross-functional collaboration with
internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to problem-solve, execute, and deliver complex messages to diverse audiences
• Extensive knowledge of Social Media platforms including Facebook, YouTube,
Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and others.
• Photo editing and/or video editing ability
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Strong communication, project and time management skills
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc) proficiency
• Google (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.) proficiency
• Ability to pass required background check
• Embraces an ever-changing environment while simultaneously balancing multiple
projects with the ability to switch priorities and focus as needed
• Collaborative and team-oriented with exceptional organizational, project management,
written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and the ability to communicate
with internal and external resources
• Prior experience in the Education or Online Education industry

• This is a home-based position; however, travel will be required as necessary to various
school functions and as may be otherwise required.
