Pathways In Education (PIE) is an Alternative Learning Opportunities Program (ALOP) serving grades 9-12 in the Chicago community. Pathways considers the unique needs of every student, allowing access to small group classes, guided independent study, online courses, and experiential learning, to address each student's individual strengths and needs.

Pathways In Education is looking for a School Safety Coordinator in the Chicago area to work at the Humboldt Park center. The School Safety Coordinator will have the following responsibilities
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*
Actively respond to incidents, fights or other issues in or on school grounds that threaten the safety of students, staff, and/or guests.
Report unusual activity or suspicions of safety issues to administration in a timely fashion.
Complete proper documentation related to incident reports and misconduct reports
Monitor school grounds and school entrances to ensure only authorized personnel and authorized visitors access the school.
As needed, monitor the student entry and dismissal process to ensure safety
Build positive and professional relationships with students and leverage those relationships to establish and maintain productive and safe learning environments.
Exercise dignity and respect when interacting with students at all times
Under direction from administration, leads efforts to de-escalate inappropriate student behaviors and assist students with maximizing their time on task in classroom.
Act a substitute teacher when needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Professional and positive attitude.
Ability to make decisions independently.
Uphold standards set forth by the company without constant feedback or training.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma required/ BA degree preferred.
Previous experience in security preferred.
Have a PERC (Permanent Employee Registration Card) card or ability to obtain a PERC card.
IL Substitute permit not required, but applicant must be willing to obtain one after hire.
