SUMMARY: The Placement and Scheduling Counselor works under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Counseling Programming and Data. This position is responsible for scheduling new students in the appropriate courses as determined by their course history and graduation requirements, transcribing transfer credits, following up on and obtaining missing records needed for scheduling and identifying students in need of credit recovery and testing.

Schedule the appropriate courses for students in grades K-8 using the school’s SIS
Assist the High School Placement Counselor with transcribing transfer credits for new students
Review and interpret transcripts and schedules for transfer students
Notify assigned School Counselors and appropriate administrators about the testing needs of new students
Inform School Counselors of new students assigned to their caseload
Track new high school students who are off cohort and share reports with School Counselors, Graduation Caches and other
Communicate with new students and their families about pertinent information regarding the counseling department
Prepare enrollment and schedule reports as needed
Provide additional support within the Counseling Department as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years of experience with scheduling courses in an SIS system
2 years of experience working with high school credits/transcripts or equivalent combination of education and experience
Understanding of Georgia High School Requirements
Ability to read and understand high school transcripts
Ability to perform tasks and projects with a high degree of accuracy and keen attention to detail
Certificates and Licenses: Non required

Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work quickly and efficiently
Ability to work independently, with confidence to verify and ask questions when needed
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to travel 20% of the time
Ability to pass required background check
Experience as a School Counselor or Registrar
Experience working in an educational setting
Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
Experience with Infinite Campus
An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)
