Position: MI Center Dean (SMART, 2022-2023)
Reports to: Multi-Intensive Center Director
Location: STRIVE Prep - SMART
Salary: $45,000-65,000 based on years of experience and education as well as a $3,000 increase for having one of the following licenses, SPED Education Generalist (5.02, 5.03, 5.04, 5.05, 5.08, 5.09). Finally, this role is eligible for a $2,000 addition to base salary for passing a language proficiency test for an approved language as well as a relocation bonus. DAY IN THE LIFE
As a Multi-Intensive Center Academic Dean, you will be organizing, and presenting academic and behavior data to the MI Center team on a daily and weekly basis. You will do this by establishing clear data-collecting systems and routines that will be used by all team members as well as the larger school community and any subsequent training that is needed to ensure consistent quality data is being gathered to drive student academic and behavior support and interventions. You will also provide direct 1-1 or small group instruction daily under the direct supervision of the lead teacher as well as support student-specific hygiene needs throughout the day.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (OR PREFERENCES WHERE NOTED)
5+ years working in a Center Program as an Educational Assistant
Experience building relationships with students, families and other relevant stakeholders
Experience encouraging independence and maintaining high expectations
NICE TO HAVES:
Speaks Spanish and has experience working with bilingual students
Demonstrated success working with students of color
Experience working in a school setting with students with varied disabilities
Knowledge and Experience with data collection
Bachelors Degree in a related field
Instructional Support + Data Collection
Provide instruction under the direct supervision of a teacher if (1) the teacher prepares the lesson(s) and plans the instructional support activities the paraprofessional carries out, and evaluates the achievement of the students with whom the paraprofessional is working, and (2) the paraprofessional works in close and frequent proximity with the teacher. [§200.59(c)(2) of the Title I regulations]
Creating Progress Monitoring Binders for students and their specific IEP goals per the teacher’s guidance
Support Progress Monitoring Schedule as determined by the MI Center Director
Creating individualized, independent work binders/resources
Updating and tracking student inclusion rubrics on a weekly basis
Tracking student behavior data, including interventions used in both the Center and the larger school community
Be actively involved in supporting students in the GenEd classroom and whole school community as needed
Communicate regularly and often with families to both solicit their input and share student social and academic progress and record family communication in Infinite Campus.
Provide supervision of students during before and after school activities (arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, and break).
Design and implement student events, and parental and community engagement opportunities for students in the program.
Participate in school-wide family and community events, including twice-annual parent conferences and at least one student enrollment event or activity.
Own the success and achievement of all scholars in the school.
Instruct small groups in math, literacy, and life skills instruction using materials provided by the lead teacher.
Support with all health and toileting needs throughout the school day.
Execute school-wide culture systems and routines in for students in the MI Center in order to create a safe, purposeful, and inclusive school environment.
Leadership and Coaching:
Hold restorative conversations with enough processing time for students with various cognitive needs as needed throughout the school day.
Meet weekly with the MI Center Director to review data points and discuss potential next steps
Daily family communication regarding any academic or behavioral concerns
Facilitate weekly huddles with educational assistants to collaborate on strategies and concerns regarding student support.
Professional development/training for the SW on PD days
Participate in professional development throughout the school year as determined by the Center Director
Attend all campus PD opportunities
Other duties as assigned
