Washington Latin is a liberal arts, college preparatory school with a classical mission. We serve 700 students in grades 5-12 from across the District. We believe that all students deserve a quality education that goes beyond preparation and focuses on developing knowledge, understanding and humanity. Ours is a school where words matter, ideas matter, and people matter. We strive to help our students to become thoughtful people who will contribute to the public good and continue a lifelong quest towards a fuller humanity.
Washington Latin Public Charter School is seeking a Dedicated Aide for the 2017-18 school year, for a middle school, special needs student. The Dedicated Aide will report directly to the Co-Directors of Student Support Services, but will work closely with the Middle School team of teachers and administrators. We are seeking an individual that thrives in a fast-paced, rigorous academic environment, and who excels at building relationships across a diverse array of adult and student stakeholders. This individual will be asked to build a strong, trusting relationship with a student with special needs, and help that student realize his/her full academic potential.
The role of the Aide at Latin encompasses not only assisting the intended student with being consistently productive and engaged in the classroom setting, but also working on developing social and behavioral skills in non-academic school settings. The Aide will work closely with teachers and the student's family, to create and follow a plan that will help ensure the student's social and academic success.
