Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through language immersion in their choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian (depending on the school). Responsible for dealing with student needs, building and maintaining a positive school culture, and ensuring the character development of our students through daily enrichment classes and activities. The Dean of Students is an important and significant member of the administrative team which includes principals and other administrative staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Embody the characteristics that the school wished students to uphold, especially respect, excellence, authenticity, curiosity, hard word, teamwork, and professionalism.
Provide all relevant data, reports and information to the administrative team related to student behavior, school culture and enrichment activities.
Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families and colleagues.
Sustain and monitor a safe, orderly and disciplined school culture of high academic and behavioral standards that ensures all students are prepared for success in college.
Assists in the data driven development of structures, systems, routines and behavior incentives tiered according to Positive Behavior Support to create a consistent and vibrant school culture that ultimately leads to increased student achievement and character development.
Organize and manage daily enrichment, homework club and detention classes.
Organize and manage all college-related field trips.
Organize and manage quarterly family workshops.
Organize and manage school-wide disciplinary systems including merit and demerit; in-school suspensions and student paychecks.
Lead community meetings, school culture meetings and other committees as necessary.
Provide specific professional development to the rest of the faculty as necessary.
Evaluate student behavior through detailed data analysis of student and teacher performance on a wide variety of metrics and present this data to school constituencies in an easily accessible and readable format.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Educational Leadership required; Master's Degree preferred.
Teaching and/or administrative experience in urban areas with marked success, and quantifiable and objective student performance gains that surpass state averages.
