Chief Financial Officer

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the financial health of the organization. The CFO sets the strategy for organizational financial management and ensures that the organization is positioned to achieve short- and long-term goals. Additionally, the CFO ensures budgets and financial allocations are aligned to organizational strategic priorities and that the organization stays within the annual budget. This position is a core member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Executive Director.


Financial Management
-Prepare short-, medium-, and long-term financial forecasts for strategic planning purposes
-Oversee fiscal planning and implementation of the annual budget
-Determine contingency plans to manage unexpected financial situations and recommend approaches to the Board of Trustees
-Prepare financial analysis reports and oversee the preparation of financial statements, annual audit, and tax filings, including compliance reports to banks and city, state, and federal agencies related to government grants and business operations
-Interface directly with the Board of Trustees to ensure financial compliance and to communicate key financial goals and needs
-Develop financial policies and protocols in conjunction with the Board of Trustees
-Serve as the primary staff liaison with the Board of Trustees Finance Committee

Capital Portfolio Management and Raising Capital
-Sets vision and expectations for management of the capital portfolio
-Ensures financial integrity of organization and compliance with capital requirements and covenants
-Decides financial strategies, maximizing financial flexibility and capital employed, while maintaining budgetary controls and fund source compliance
-Sets vision and expectations for the capital raising process and ensures adequate capital is raised
-Decides on financing options and interfaces with the leadership team and Board to communicate the strategic impact
-Adapts financing strategies to changes in capital markets
Collaborates with the Director of Operations to design facilities plan and determine financing options

Real Estate
-Oversee and manage real estate projects, including design and construction
-Ensure that construction projects are financed in ways that assure the long-term financial health and viability of the organization
-Perform long-term financial and facilities planning to inform organization-wide growth with respect to facilities

Procurement Process
-Develop a procurement strategy
-Ensure compliance with local and federal procurement laws

-Coordinate with appropriate parties on legal issues
