Valor Collegiate Academies is seeking an exceptional High School Instructional Coach who is excited to (1) share our mission of academic excellence and empowering scholars to live inspired and purposeful lives, and (2) willing to pursue equity through curriculum, instruction, and a strong commitment to academic support and acceleration. This is a two year leadership position designed to support our team’s efforts to accelerate our high school students’ learning during the late pandemic academic recovery period.

Valor is a charter school network currently serving 1,700 students in grades 5-11. Our high school, Valor College Prep, was founded in the 2018-2019 school year. As we’ve added one grade level each school year, our founding class of students will be graduating in the 2021-2022 school year.

As Valor is committed to providing a balanced education for our diverse student body - with academic rigor paired with comprehensive human development at the heart of our model - it is essential that our school leaders have a passion for both academic excellence and social-emotional learning. We are looking for an exceptional Instructional Coach to join our high school team. This position will play a critical role in ensuring Valor students are equipped with the skills necessary to pursue the paths of their choice - college, career, and beyond - to live inspired, opportunity-filled lives.

Teacher Development

Partner with Valor’s CAO, school leaders, and other instructional coaches in the development and implementation of a strong high school curriculum grades 9-12
Observe teachers’ instruction and lead weekly individual coaching meetings to support them in improving their practice, supporting student growth and outcomes relative to
Create targeted, individualized coaching plans to empower teacher growth and development, as well as student outcomes on critical academic assessments (i.e. AP Exams, end of course examinations, ACT, etc.).
Meet regularly with teaching teams to intellectually prepare units and lessons.
Create and deliver professional learning sessions for teachers centered on effective teaching strategies and data analysis.
When needed, create and implement teacher development plans to support teachers with targeted growth and improvement areas
School and Network Support

With other instructional coaches, pioneer network-wide and/or content-specific academic priorities rolled out each year or by quarter.
Work as a member of the school-based leadership team to ensure effective and consistently implemented instructional and discipline-related systems and routines.
Support school culture and academic data analysis alongside the school leadership team to identify gaps in data and effectively problem solve
Collaborate with other members of the school and network team to strengthen team and individual instructional leadership
Participate as a key member of Valor’s talent team by participating in the interview and selection process of candidates.
Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and culture
Participate in arrival duty, recess or lunch duty, and dismissal duty
Attend family meetings, orientation, and other school events
Lead and attend faculty Circle once a week
Participate as a hiring team member
