The National Alliance filed a public comment in support of a proposed regulation by the National Labor Relations Board because it would provide better protection for charter management organizations (CMOs) and education management organizations (EMOs), making it more difficult to deem them joint employers. This narrower standard will protect CMOs and EMOs that provide certain back-office services and supports to schools and their teachers by shielding these CMOs and EMOs from sharing liability with their networked schools for something the schools themselves do.
