Automatic Closure of Low-Performing Public Charter Schools

Over the past several years, state lawmakers have been devoting increasing attention to enacting legislation to better support the growth of high-quality public charter schools. By passing laws to lift caps on charter growth, allow nondistrict entities to serve as charter authorizers, and provide better funding and facilities support to charters, state lawmakers have been strengthening accountability provisions for these innovative public school options.
