October 1 - Charter School Operator Expansion Plans 35 Campuses for South L.A.

By 2016, The Inner City Education Foundation will more than double the number of charter school campuses it currently operates in South Los Angeles. The group plans to expand from 13 campuses to 35 over the next eight years. Mitchell Landsberg of the L.A. NE - With both presidential candidates supporting the growth of the charter school movement, advocates hope to bring charters to Nebraska, one of ten states without a charter law. Todd Ziebarth, vice president for policy at the Alliance, stresses the importance of strong, grass-roots organizing at the local level in order to push for a charter law.  Jeffrey Robb of the Omaha World-Herald discusses past efforts to garner support for the law  here.

MO - Gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof is calling for more charter schools in Kansas City and St. Louis. Kit Wagar of the Kansas City Star describes Hulshof's plans to expand high-quality charter schools in the state's two largest urban school districts here.
