The Vice President of Performance Management will be responsible for developing, communicating and executing a comprehensive performance management strategy that establishes well-defined career paths, rewards high performers, and provides continuous development opportunities for all school-based and Home Office staff. The work will involve implementing educator effectiveness strategies as well as designing and implementing a performance evaluation system for Home Office employees and non-instructional staff. The Vice President will partner with leaders across the organization to develop clear and compelling role definitions, establish the skills and competencies required for promotion, and assemble a suite of professional development tools, structures, and resources to help staff members with their learning progression.

Once the strategy and systems have been designed and implemented, the Vice President of Performance Management will be responsible for overseeing cyclical reviews as well as the continuous improvement of Alliance’s performance management structures and systems. This position will report to Alliance’s Chief Talent Officer.


We expect our Vice President of Performance Management to:

Implement and Oversee Educator Effectiveness

Develop and provide training to all levels of staff on educator effectiveness tools and systems.
Oversee performance management for teachers, and collect and analyze data to improve the process and to inform support.
Work closely with the Chief Schools Officer to develop and implement a comprehensive performance management process for school leaders and other administrative staff.
Design and Implement Performance Management Strategy for Non-Instructional Staff

Develop job descriptions, competencies, skills and experiences required for each role.
Develop and manage a structured and meaningful annual performance feedback and evaluation process across the organization
Partner with schools and home office teams to define robust and transparent career paths.
Identify the skills and competencies that must be acquired to progress from one role to the next, and the processes to assess team member progression along this path.
Design or work with other teams to offer professional growth opportunities so that each staff member continues to build his or her professional skills.
Work with Human Resources to define responsibility, classification and compensation levels across titles.
Conduct assessments and gap analysis on employee skills and training.
Work closely with the Chief Talent Officer to develop compensation models for different employee groups

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Ten or more years of professional full-time work experience, with an emphasis on performance management, including at least 3 years in an educational setting.
Experience in mapping competencies against current work responsibilities / objectives as a means of building the strengths of team members.
Experience developing, implementing, and overseeing a performance appraisal process, as well as professional development models, preferably in an educational setting.
