ROLE SUMMARY

The Vice President of Marketing and Communications leads all marketing, communications and public relations strategy for Alliance College Ready Public Schools. The Vice President is responsible for building awareness, support and engagement in the mission of Alliance and its network of 25 public charter schools among both external and internal constituencies, including donors, volunteers, elected officials, media, current and prospective staff, current and prospective students and parents, and alumni. The Vice President of Communications develops and implements a comprehensive communications plan and ensures consistency of messaging and brand across the organization. This is an opportunity to manage a team of two staff and be part of a dynamic, growth-oriented organization and department.



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Marketing

Produce external marketing collateral and informational materials, publications, multi-media presentations, and communications consistent with the Alliance brand.
Lead online content development and engagement efforts, including social media, website and blogs.
Oversee Alliance-wide student enrollment marketing and outreach efforts, including development of overall outreach strategy, oversight of on the ground outreach efforts, outreach to media and analysis of enrollment data to inform future efforts.
Partner with Alliance-wide recruitment marketing and outreach efforts,
Supervise the Communications Coordinator who will execute enrollment outreach, recruitment, social media and PR events.
Refine and manage Alliance brand standards and key messages, and ensure use across the organization.
Conduct regular tracking and evaluation of marketing strategies to inform current and future outreach strategies to Alliance constituencies.


External Communications and Public Relations

Create and manage annual calendar of communications to Alliance key constituents.
Oversee Alliance PR events, such as school openings and naming ceremonies.
Work with PR firm to determine how to best position the organization with the media and ensure timely release of press statements and assist with follow-up and preparation of press related events. Draft and/or edit press releases, op-eds and letters to the editor as appropriate.
Respond to media inquiries and serve as spokesperson for the Alliance.
Draft speeches and talking points for Alliance executives.


Internal Communications

Oversee the development and implementation of an internal communications plan to build loyalty, affiliation and engagement of Alliance employees, parents and students across school sites and functions.
Supervise the Director of Internal Communications who will develop and execute the internal communications plan.


THE STRONGEST CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate Alliance mission and activities with clarity and in a compelling manor to diverse audiences.
Proven ability in strategic planning, critical thinking, problem solving, and change management.
Experience in multi-channel communication and engagement.
Experience in leading production and design of engaging print and online materials, videos and multi-media presentations.
Experience working effectively with press.
Track record of building new programming, operations and procedures to sustain the work.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to lead and work well with diverse Alliance stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and PowerPoint; preferred experience with Constant Contact, Adobe, InDesign, HTML, and desktop publishing and video editing programs.
Belief in and alignment with Alliance’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.

Understanding of the nuances of urban school environments and school culture.


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
6-8 years of experience in marketing and communications roles.
Experience leading a team in communicating with diverse audiences through varied channels
Experience in K-12 education is ideal, but not required.
