JOB TITLE: Charter School Teacher
Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Charter School Coordinator function as a team to carry out teaching assignment. To work as a team to implement approved Charter School Educational program components.

Essential Duties:
1. To safeguard the health and safety of all pupils.

2. To assist pupils to achieve academically in the areas of language, literacy, math, social studies, science, arts, physical development through classroom instruction utilizing approved curricula and strategies.

3. To assist pupils in developing cognitive, social, emotional and psychomotor skills appropriate to age, grade and ability through daily instruction.

4. Establish rapport with pupils and parents. Communicate student progress effectively with parents to as to facilitate meaningful two-way communication

5. Establish classroom routines and procedures. To formulate pupil behavior standards in the classroom, identify causes of inappropriate behavior and work to correct it utilizing available resources.

6. Select, develop, plan, implement and evaluate learning activities, daily lessons and pupil performance. Maintain class records and individual progress of each student

7. Assist in assessing student entry level, develop and implement Student Achievement Plans, including short and long-term goals.

8. Work as a team to develop curricula, learning and teaching strategies, discipline policy and resource identification.

9. Carry out other duties as assigned.

10. Supervisory Responsibilities: In the absence of the Director of Charter Schools and the Charter School Coordinator, teachers may be assigned to supervise the day to day operations of the school for short periods of time to a maximum of two to three days.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty element satisfactorily while exercising independent judgement and discretion under the general supervision of the Charter School Coordinator. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability required. The individual must meet age, medical, moral character and any other requirements as defined by Florida Statutes. Florida Statute 231.02 requires all Charter School employees to be fingerprinted. Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Must posses a temporary Teacher's Certificate or be Certified as required by Chapter 231.02 Florida Statutes. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in teaching.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards, as well as children and parents. .

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve problems in a creative manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hand and finger coordination to write and type. Physical agility to carry out proper child care and supervision techniques is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision necessary to obtain a Florida Drivers license.

OTHER: Able to work flexible hours, occasional evenings and varying daytime shifts during weekdays. Some weekend work required.
