Two Rivers Public Charter School is looking for a dynamic, dedicated, flexible school counselor to provide comprehensive social emotional support to a diverse group of students, and to become part of a vibrant educational community. This position is available beginning August 2014.


Staff at Two Rivers are part of an energetic and caring team devoted to creating an incredible school. Ideal candidates will possess the following qualities/skills:

• Proven skills in providing evidence-based individual and group counseling to build students' social-emotional skills, including problem-solving and self-regulation skills • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student strengths and needs through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery • Capability to evaluate and create a profile of a student's social/emotional/behavioral patterns through skilled observations, checklists, histories, interviews, and functional assessments • Capability to guide evidence-based intervention and present those results as part of a multi-disciplinary team • Capability to develop Functional Behavior Assessments and guide development of evidence-based Behavior Intervention Plans • Capability to provide professional development for educators, service providers, and families • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team • Deep commitment to develop and contribute to a community of educators • Flexibility, commitment, and enthusiasm

Candidates should have a Masters in Social Work or Counseling, and a current license to practice in DC. Two years of experience as a counselor working in a school setting or other pediatric practice setting is preferred.
