Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys is seeking Middle School Teachers (English language arts, mathematics, science, foreign language, and Social Studies for grades 6 - 8) for the 2017 - 2018 school year.

About Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys
Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys (BCSB) is an all-boys, tuition-free public charter school for Baltimore public school students. We seek out and advance the next generation of young men who, through the finest liberal arts education possible, will become responsible citizens that lead and serve in our community, the nation, and the world. Our mission is to ensure that all of our students will have the opportunity to attend a four-year college or university and become men of great character. Having opened our doors in the fall of 2015, we consider all our staff members to be founders of our school. We expect our staff to work relentlessly to develop strong relationships with our boys and support them to develop their academic skills, self-motivation, creativity, and character.

BCSB is located at 1101 Winston Ave, Baltimore, MD 21212. The program currently serves male students in grades fourth through seventh grade, with the goal of expanding to eighth grade in the 2017 – 2018 school year.

Responsibilities
Middle school teachers will plan and provide rich, age-appropriate learning experiences for students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Planning rigorous learning experiences aligned to Maryland’s College and Career Ready Standards and state assessments;
• Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and assessments;
• Collecting and analyzing formative and summative student assessment data to drive instructional decision-making and track students’ mastery of standards;
• Creating a warm, exciting, and innovative learning environment;
• Differentiating instruction to meet the needs, interests and abilities for all students, including students with disabilities, ELL students, and those who are gifted and talented;
• Establishing positive relationships with colleagues, students, families and the community which reflect recognition of and respect for every boy;
• Using effective, positive, respectful interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, students, and families;
• Incorporating technology into curriculum;

Desired Qualities
• Demonstrated track record of high achievement;
• Familiarity with middle school level Maryland College and Career Ready Standards and/or Maryland Content Standards and prior experience teaching to these standards;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work well with parents;
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member;
• Patience, flexibility, and a willingness to take risks;
• Consistently reflects on her/his own teaching practices;
• Experience working with diverse student populations and children with developmental differences;
• Committed and able to meet the unique social-emotional needs of urban male students;
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and eagerness to learn;
• Strong motivation and commitment to our boys’ well-being and preparing them all for success in college.

Minimum Qualifications
• At least 2 years prior teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting;
• Bachelor’s degree (M.A or M.S. in Education, Teaching, or Special Education preferred);
• Be eligible for or currently possess a valid Maryland teaching certificate (Standard or Advanced Professional Certificate or Professional Eligibility Certificate).
