The Loan Officer will be responsible for evaluating the credit risk and managing the due diligence, underwriting and closing process of the EFFC’s charter school financings. As part of a team looking for new and innovative ways to help charter schools succeed in a challenging financial environment, the Loan Officer will use his/her strong underwriting and/or charter school operations background and analytical skills to support charter schools’ continued growth. The Loan Officer will report to the Director of the EFFC.

Principal Areas of Responsibility:
• Underwrite financing requests including collecting and screening applications; analyzing historical and projected financial performance, academic quality and management capacity; presenting loan recommendations to Credit Committee; and coordinating loan closing process.
• Collaborate with internal and external parties, including banks and other CDFIs, to structure financings.
• Offer support and technical assistance to the 30 LISC local program offices in the underwriting of facilities financings for charter schools.
• Contribute to the research and writing of EFFC publications, such as the Landscape series, as part of the EFFC’s ongoing dissemination of best practices in charter school facilities financing.
• Provide support to the EFFC’s Director in assessing and reporting on the EFFC’s performance to appropriate internal and external audiences, as needed.
• Assist with the asset management of LISC’s charter school portfolio, as needed.
