2014-15 Teaching Positions: Physical Education Teacher

Our PE teacher works collaboratively with our elementary and middle school instructional teams to create an physical education program appropriate to the developmental stages of all our students that will motivate and challenge each student according to his or her abilities.

Our PE teacher teaches students physical education through the development and implementation of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program to develop motor skills and physical fitness for every student

•K-3: basic skills in movement, use of equipment, safe practices, rules and procedures
•4-5: build complex movement skills, participate in activities to encourage cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility
•6-8: practice complex skills through specialized sports, dance, and activities; identify the principles of conditioning and fitness components; practice safe and ethical behavior in physical activity.

Our PE teacher also teaches a health education program to develop health-literate students in the following areas
•Alcohol, tobacco, and drug use prevention
•Prevention and control of disease
•Promote environmental health habits
•Promote healthy eating
•Promote mental, social, and emotional health
•Unintentional injury prevention
•Violence and suicide prevention
