Hyde Leadership opened with 193 students in Kindergarten and 6th grade in 2006 in Hunts Point, in the South Bronx, NY, our nation's poorest Congressional District. We have been growing ever since: with the addition of a new, state-of-the-art high school building in 2011, we now educate over 950 students each day in grades K-12, across two campuses, with 160 faculty and staff. The School’s mission is to achieve academic excellence, and to develop the deeper character and potential of all members of the school community. Rigorous learning attitudes, leadership skills and participation in sports, the arts and community service lay the foundation for each student’s success in college and life.

The Board seeks an experienced and dynamic Executive Director with a strong educational leadership background to guide all students, faculty, staff, and families. The Executive Director ensures fidelity to high quality instruction in grades K-12, and provides consistent and clear feedback to all direct reports. Academic rigor and student success, within the context of a holistic approach to character development for all members of the community, distinguishes Hyde from all other charter schools. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director will have primary responsibility for the strategic development, implementation, and management of all aspects of school performance and operations. The school has a Chief Operating Officer and a Director of Development, as well as Directors of K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

The ideal candidate must bring experience, skills and attitudes in the following areas:
• A minimum of eight years of experience in a management role;
• A strategic planner with experience leading a regular cycle of long-term strategic planning;
• Experience managing a team of high performing leaders through setting goals, communicating clear expectations and providing timely feedback and support;
• Experience working with a COO (includes finance, technology, facilities, HR, legal, Student Data Warehouse);
• Proven ability to coach others towards becoming superb managers of their own teams;
• Experience working in a fast paced, demanding environment;
• Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly, succinctly and persuasively such that expectations are clear, timelines are delineated, and excellence is defined;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities from a variety of sources, organizing and prioritizing effectively to impact areas of greatest need;
• Experience organizing and running effective meetings and managing effective communication flow across the organization;
• Ability to deconstruct and reconstruct complex problems and develop coherent, actionable strategies;
• A master’s degree with a preference for a graduate degree in a related field.
