POSITION: Early Childhood Curriculum and Response to Intervention Coordinator, 12 month position
REPORTS TO: Head of School / Principal

Bridges’ mission is to provide an exemplary educational program that includes all students. Our developmentally appropriate, student and family-centered educational approach nurtures students to expand their developmental skills, in order to build a foundation for life-long learning. Bridges Public Charter School is expanding into an elementary school program.

The Early Childhood Curriculum and Response to Intervention Coordinator at Bridges PCS oversees curriculum, assessment, teacher professional development and the Response to Intervention (RTI) program at the early childhood (pre-K 3 and pre-K 4) level. Bridges is an expanding elementary school program currently serving 143 students in grades pre-K 3 – first grade. The school’s planned growth model for expansion is to add a grade level each year, with each grade level consisting of 2 inclusion classrooms and one non-categorical high level special education class. The school will reach capacity at 5th grade serving 408 students in the 2017- 2018 school year. The Early Childhood Curriculum/RTI Coordinator is part of the Instructional Leadership Team. This position reports to the Head of School / Principal.

EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
 A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field, Masters degree preferred.
 5 years or more of experience with early childhood education administration, coaching and teaching.
 Familiarity with the Response to Intervention approach to academic and/or behavior support.
 Proficiency in analyzing student achievement data and using it to inform instructional choices.
 Superior ability to coach/supervise staff members with a variety of skill sets and educational experiences.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members, and staff members.
 Strong skills in partnering with other team members and families.
 Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
 Track record of being a team player and community minded.
 Commitment to his/her own learning.
 Excellent time-management skills and attention to details.
 Passion for urban public schools.
 High level of professional and ethical standards.

SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate has experience teaching early childhood education and coaching teachers in a diverse school setting. Bridges is seeking a candidate who exhibits superior organizational and communication skills; is compassionate; can provide effective collaborative and open-minded leadership; is flexible and team-oriented with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, administrators, and parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
 Manage all aspects of the early childhood curriculum, including training teachers on curriculum resources and expectations, maintaining classroom and school-wide resources and ensuring that teachers are able to use the curriculum tools to deliver high quality instruction.
 Manage assessments and analysis of student achievement data. Oversee outside testers who support quarterly and/or yearly assessments. Conduct data team meetings with teachers and coach them to use data to inform instruction and intervention. Report assessment results to the Instructional Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
 Manage all aspects of the RTI program, including identifying students in need of intervention, communicating with families, creating intervention plans, analyzing intervention results and planning next steps.
 Provide regular professional development to teachers through observation feedback, lesson plan feedback, monthly coaching meetings and monthly professional development workshops.
 Provide targeted coaching and support to teachers who are struggling with instruction and/or classroom management.
 Engage parents and families in their students’ learning and act as an ambassador for the school in the community.
 Represent the school as a subject matter expert in contact with OSSE, PCSB, federal agencies and non-profit organizations.
 Coordinate with members of the Instructional Leadership Team to ensure the academic program is of the highest quality and all students are successful.
 Contribute productively to the school as a whole.
 Attend and participate in school events outside of regular school hours.
 Other duties as assigned.

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. Employees will be contracted yearly. Contracts will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest. Health benefits (medical & dental), disability insurance, and a retirement plan: 401-(k) or the continuation of the DCPS retirement plan.
