POSITION: Arts Integration / Visual Arts Intern
REPORTS TO: Arts Integration Coordinator

Bridges Public Charter School is seeking an intern to work in our art department, assisting with both visual arts and arts integration during the 2014-2015 school year. Our Arts Integration / Visual Arts Intern will work with our art teacher / arts integration coordinator and assist in teaching visual arts to students in grades K – 2, as well as collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art into their core curriculum.

This internship will provide art education candidates with knowledge and skills in the areas of curriculum and instructions, classroom management, special education, and arts integration across both subject areas and arts disciplines.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
• Have completed at least 60 credits of undergraduate coursework
• Be enrolled in an art education program
• Have an interest in teaching both visual arts and arts integrated lessons
• Have a commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population
• Have an interest in working with early elementary students
• Be committed to their own learning
• Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Writing and implementing visual arts lessons plans
• Planning for and preparing materials for arts lessons
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to plan and implement arts integrated lessons
• Assisting with curriculum mapping for visual arts
• Working with students in general education inclusive classrooms, as well as non-categorical special education classrooms
• Participate in staff meetings
• Contribute to building a positive school culture

This is an unpaid internship. Hours are flexible and will be determined by the needs of the school, availability of the student, and in accordance with college and university requirements for internship hours if the student will be receiving credit for this internship.
