Alliance is seeking to hire two Area Superintendents to serve a key levers in ensuring that Alliance students are prepared to complete college. The Area Superintendents will provide leadership, coaching and instructional support to a cluster of Alliance school leaders.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high performing, data-driven senior team working to achieve transformational results for students at the largest Charter Management Organization in Los Angeles.
School Leader Strategic Support and Development
Provide ongoing coaching and support (in both individual and group settings) to Alliance school leaders in developing the skills necessary to achieve school success, including general leadership, instruction, and promoting a college-going culture;
Provide direct supervision of and formal evaluations for principals;
Support and guide school leaders with the development and implementation of annual operating plans aligned with Alliance’s strategic plan, which focuses on achieving top quartile academic achievement, being known as a best place to work, and building a culture of innovation and excellence at all schools;
Support schools in building community partnerships that enhance and support the accomplishment of the school’s mission, vision, and goals;
Collaborate across Alliance schools and Home Office departments to ensure that school needs are met; and
Assist in guiding school leaders in successfully preparing for oversight, accreditation and charter renewal processes.
Data-Driven Instructional Leadership
Understand and interpret student performance data to identify areas for development, and share and support implementation of best practices;
Ensure school leaders effectively use assessment data and results to drive school goals and initiatives;
Build capacity of school leaders to ensure effective teaching and learning aligned to the Alliance framework for effective teaching;
Support school leaders in the work of monitoring, evaluation, and implementation of curriculum to ensure that all students are college ready; and
Collaborate with Alliance Home Office instructional team to establish instructional priorities by school site and coordinate the deployment of resources to teachers and leaders.
Provide leadership and support of Alliance’s strategic goals, with a strong focus on the instructional vision of the organization;
Assist in developing a strong pipeline for future Alliance leaders; and
Maintain a strong organizational culture aligned to Alliance’s core values.
A proven track record of effective school leadership with a minimum of five years as an administrator and/or principal achieving outstanding measurable results in low-income communities;
Experience working in a central office role as part of an instructional, curricular, assessment, or data team preferred;
Experience supervising, coaching, or mentoring school leaders strongly preferred;
Comfort in and enthusiasm for using large amounts of data to drive decisions at the school and organization levels.
Ability to navigate complex issues and drive strong student performance results;
Ability to effectively coach and mentor direct reports, peers, and executive level officers on instructional strategies and organizational culture development;
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
Proven strategic planning and project management skills with the ability to translate strategies from plans to action; and
Superior communication skills with an ability to articulate a clear and compelling vision and lead others to implement it.
