Q. What is the National Charter Schools Conference? A. The National Charter Schools Conference (NCSC) is the largest annual gathering of charter school teachers, school leaders, administrators, board members, and advocates from across the country. This two and a half day event provides engaging keynote sessions, relevant breakout sessions, and myriad networking opportunities for more than 4,000 charter school professionals and policy-makers. Q. Where and when is the NCSC being held this year? A. This year, the NCSC will take place June 29-July 2 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Our Mandalay Bay group rate of $149/night at one of Vegas’s nicest hotels makes it easy to stay right in the center of it all under the same roof as our conference! Q. When should I arrive in Vegas? A. Our Welcome Reception begins at 6:00pm on Sunday, June 29, so we would recommend that you get to Vegas in time to join in the fun! The Welcome Reception is a great opportunity to get to know some fellow attendees and start networking! Q. What is a conference strand? How do I pick a strand? A. NCSC session content is divided into five conference strands: Instruction, Leadership, Policy, Operations and Governance. Attendees generally attend sessions within the strand that most closely aligns with their interests and work. Visit our Who Attends page to learn more. Q. How to I pick which sessions to attend?  A. Once the NCSC 2014 program is finalized, you can use our session search tool to browse sessions on topics that interest you, see what sessions are being offered within your conference strand, and make your own customized NCSC 2014 schedule. Q. What networking opportunities will I have in Vegas? A. the NCSC boasts tons of formal and informal networking opportunities. Morning peer-to-peer networking coffee allow for in-depth discussion on a specific topic, or head over to our unofficially networking bar, Ri Ra, to engage with other attendees in a more informal setting. New networking opportunities for this year include a special networking lounge for each strand, networking dine-arounds, and office hours with presenters where you can follow up with specific questions after their session and make valuable, lasting connections.
