The Mission...

Our mission is to grow public education to unprecedented levels of high academic achievement by increasing the number of high-performing public charter schools and increasing the number of students attending these institutions, particularly low-income and minority families that do not have access to quality public schools.  

How You Can Get Involved...

• Know Your State. You can search and create customized reports on students, schools, performance and education policy issues at the public charter school dashboard. Visit this comprehensive database sponsored by the Education Commission of the States and the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools to compare state policies or click here to read a summary of the 2009 legislative session. Visit our in your state page find out the locations of charter schools and details about the charter school movement near you.
• Write to policy makers. Want to get involved in supporting public charter schools in your community and the public charter school movement nationally? Visit the legislative and advocacy portal and communicate directly with your local, state and federal representatives on vital charter school issues.
• Contribute. Your tax-deductible contribution helps us provide technical assistance to state charter organizations and resource centers, develop and advocate for improved public policies and serve as the united voice of the public charter school movement. Donate today!
• Write a letter to the editor. Participating in the civic dialogue hosted by your local newspaper on urgent issues such as education and public charter schools is an important way to show your support. • Tell your story. Know of a great charter school, teacher or student? Share the news with us and we may post it in the Charter Blog.
• Find a charter school. The Alliance’s Public Charter School Dashboard, a database of statistics on nearly 5,000 public charter schools, is now upgraded and includes search capabilities for individual charter schools!
