Gina Mahony

Senior Vice President, Government Relations

Gina Mahony is the senior vice president for government relations, educating members of Congress, the administration, and officials at the U.S. Department of Education about the charter school community. In particular, Gina focuses on increasing federal support for the growth and expansion of high-quality public charter schools.

Gina was born in Washington, D.C., raised in Northern Virginia, and earned a bachelor of arts in government from the University of Notre Dame. After earning a master of education in administration, training, and policy studies at Boston University, she returned to D.C. in 1997 and spent the next 11 years on Capitol Hill, including more than five years as a senior policy adviser to Rep. Steny H. Hoyer during his tenures as House majority leader and Democratic whip. Immediately prior to joining the National Alliance, Gina served as a strategist, advocate, and adviser for both Fortune 500 and privately held companies, coalitions, and trade associations on issues before the U.S. Congress, the executive branch, and federal agencies.

Gina is an avid fan of the Fighting Irish, an active member of her church community, and tries to ski in Colorado at least twice a season.
